states west of the Mississipi
River. This
represents 42% of the population and 75% of the
land mass of the US. There are 600 rural carriers serving 2,500,000 customers over an area of 1,000,000 square miles, or an average of 2.5 customers per sq-mi. xx RBOC's serve the remaining xxM people over xx sq-miles or a density of xx.x customers/sq-mi. We're not high cost, we are just low density!
